Walking

These shoes were made for walking…

Nature is calling you! Let’s get walking.

Do you love to be outdoors? Or maybe you love to be one with nature?  Well, you’re in luck! There are so, SO many great trails in Placer County (like thousands).

I’m always looking for great places to walk and enjoy fresh air and beautiful views!

Here are are a few of my favorite places to walk it out!

  1. South Creek Wilson Park Trail (Lincoln)  – This is a 3.1 mile trail that routes around the Twelve Bridges neighborhood. Most of the widely paved trail is in green space, there is one section of trail that is along the busy road (Twelve Bridges Dr), however, you are still on a separate paved path.  You can enjoy less than 5% grade inclines and smooth paved paths the entire way.  There are so many beautiful trees, creeks, and bridges. Truth be told, this is where I attempt to outdo my best power walk times.
  2. Miners Ravine (Roseville) – This family friendly path leads from Old Roseville to Sierra College Blvd.  The trail is 8.8 miles and there are several starting places. You’ll see some creeks running along the trail (some with HUGE fish), a few bridges to cross over and even get to experience Sculpture Park up close!  There are some inclines, however, it is generally an easy route.
  3. Confluence Trail (Auburn) – Enjoy spectacular views of the American River (Middle Fork) as you hike 3.4 miles out and back on this trail.  It’s a dirt trail, so bring your hiking boots or shoes that you can get messy!  If you’re feeling hot, take off those dusty shoes and walk into the river on your way in or out of the trail!  There are a lot of mountain bikers on this trail, so be sure to keep your ears open as they yell “behind, coming through”! There are a lot of places to turn off and take in the incredible views, just be careful as they are often on the ridge side of the trail!
  4. Clementine Trail to Clarks Pool (Auburn) – If you’re looking for a reward when you get to the top (or really bottom) of this walk, you’ll find it!  This 4.5 out and back trail winds you along some pretty narrow rocky mountain sides, under the Forest Hill Bridge where you eventually end up at an old swimming hole!  Despite it being in the middle of a river, Clark’s Hole is actually a tad warm and very refreshing after a 2 mile hike in.  *There is a $10 day use fee for this area.
  5. Pleasant Grove Creek Trail (Roseville) – This trail weaves through Quail Glen, Diamond Creek, Croker Ranch and a small part of Fiddyment Farm neighborhoods.  It is a 5.8 mile fully paved trail that is popular for not only walking but running and biking too.  There are many dirt paths that break off. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.

This next one isn’t in Placer County, but it’s still a good one!  Really, it’s just over the border in Sacramento County.

  1. Johnny Cash Trail (Folsom) – Along this 6.5 mile loop trail you’ll experience some great views of the famous Folsom Prison along with some incredible architecture (a few brides are pretty epic). The majority of the trail is gentle, with no real steep inclines.  There’s very little shade on the trail, so lather up that sunscreen before heading out!

Are there some places you love to go walking? Let me know so I can check them out!
